Mark Halperin's Three Things

Article Tools

Mark Halperin's three things to watch for in presidential politics for Tuesday, December 2.

  1. Watch Barack Obama at the National Governors Association meeting in Philadelphia. He and Joe Biden are scheduled to speak to the state leaders early in the meeting today. The governors are expected to spend much of the meeting discussing their need for federal stimulus in the coming months. Watch to see the tone and substance of that event.
  2. Watch to see the debate and discussion over Obama's cabinet nominees. Especially watch how the questions about Eric Holder's “complicated role” in the pardon of Marc Rich -- raised again today in The New York Times -- continue to pan out. Also watch the discussion about how Hillary Clinton will staff and lead the State Department.
  3. Watch the real-world economy. There was trouble in Asian markets but the Dow opened up today. Watch to see what happens on Capitol Hill with the automakers' submission of a plan for how they would like to use a proposed $25 billion federal bailout.
