Reaction to Obama’s Budget Plans

Some comments after Obama's Tuesday presser:

WP's Steve Pearlstein: "I think he struck the note just perfectly. We're going to have to spend a ton of money ... to prevent this from becoming a depression."

NBC's Mark Whitaker: "I think what he was saying today that there is not a consensus that we can go back to the kind of big government we associate with the New Deal and the Great Society."

NY Times: "If Mr. Obama has been making these brief appearances... to reassure the markets, today’s outing apparently didn’t have the same magical effect that his previous appearances have had."
