Mark Halperin's Three Things

Article Tools

Mark Halperin's three things to watch for in presidential politics for Monday, November 17.

  1. Watch John McCain. He's meeting with President-elect Obama today at noon ET in Chicago. The conversation is expected to focus on creating “a more effective and efficient government.” Obama's chief of staff Rahm Emanuel and McCain's good friend Sen. Lindsey Graham will also take part in the discussion. Watch to see what happens there.
  2. Watch Hillary Clinton and the debate over whether she's going to be secretary of state. Reports out today say that the Obama transition team is vetting Bill Clinton's “finances and activities” to see how they might conflict with his wife's potential new role, suggesting she is being seriously considered. Will she be formally offered the job?
  3. Watch to see what happens with a potential auto industry bailout. Democrats and Republicans have been disagreeing in public. The White House confirmed support of an auto bailout early today, but said the administration does not want the funding to come from the $700 billion bailout already approved by Congress. Watch what happens on Capitol Hill with legislation for this bailout.
