Mark Halperin’s Three Things

Mark Halperin’s three things to watch for in presidential politics for Wednesday, November 12.

  1. Watch the game of chicken over the auto industry crisis with a leak from the Obama transition team and an announcement from Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. Watch to see what signals the Bush administration, the Obama team and Congress send on how that issue will be dealt with in the coming days.
  2. Watch the Republican Governors Association’s convention today and tomorrow in Miami. Govs. Barbour, Jindal and Pawlenty are among the scheduled speakers today. Watch to see if they’re able to draw national attention and which ones emerge as the most aggressive in talking about the direction the party should go in. Also watch for some other politicians – perhaps unexpected and not sitting governors – to show up in Florida.
  3. Watch for more Sarah Palin interviews today. At the very least, there are two with big names from CNN. An interview with Wolf Blitzer will air on “The Situation Room” this afternoon and another will air on “Larry King Live” at 9 pm ET. Watch to see what kind of attention she gets and what kind of news she makes.
