Bipartisan Pair to Meet With G-20 Leaders on Obama's Behalf

The president-elect's team announces they're sending former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and former GOP Rep. Leach to meet with foreign leaders in D.C. starting Friday. White House: No TARP Funds For Auto Makers

Spokeswoman Perino reiterates Wednesday that the president still doesn't support opening the Troubled Asset Relief Program to auto manufacturers, despite a push from top Dems and Obama. “We don’t think that that was Congress’s intent," she says, referring to when lawmakers passed the bill. Palin: Woman on Ticket Would Be Good for GOP

The governor tells reporters at the Republican Governors Association meeting Wednesday that she doesn't think her rockstar status was based on her personality, but what she represents. "Everyday hard-working American families-- a woman on the ticket perhaps represents that. It would be good for the ticket. It would be good for the party." Paulson: Bailout Won't Buy "Toxic" Assets

The Treasury Secretary says the bailout will not be used to buy troubled mortgage assets, calling that method "not the most effective way" to spend part of the $700 billion. Obama Team Denies Nunn Will Have Formal Role

Releases a statement saying the AP story reporting Obama has hired the former senator to help shepherd his Pentagon transition contains "misinformation." "Senator Sam Nunn will play an informal senior advisor role throughout the defense transition process...." Also says former Secretary of State Warren Christopher is not playing a role in the transition process, despite reports he would advise Obama on his State Department transition.
