Obama Asks Bush to Help the Automakers

Reports leak that the president-elect pleaded with Bush to take immediate action on the failing U.S. auto industry during their Monday meeting.

NY Times: “As the auto industry reels, rarely has an issue so quickly illustrated the differences from one White House occupant to the next.”

WashPost: “Congress could consider the auto measure as soon as next week, when lawmakers are scheduled to return to Washington.”
