Mark Halperin’s Three Things

Mark Halperin’s three things to watch for in presidential politics for Thursday, November 4.

  1. Watch Rahm Emanuel. It was widely reported yesterday that Emanuel was offered the job as Barack Obama’s White House chief of staff but the Illinois congressman has yet to make a public decision, saying that he must think about what’s best for his children. Is he going to take it? Watch to see how that continues to play out.
  2. Watch Barack Obama. What is the president-elect doing today besides an intelligence briefing? Watch to see how he spends his day.
  3. Watch the Bush White House as it works on the transition to the Obama administration. President Bush is set to speak about the change in power today at 11:10 am ET. Watch to see if in tone and substance they make it clear that they’re going to do as smooth a transition as they can, not just on national security but also on economics and other issues that could come up here during this critical transition period.
