Stocks Close Lower After Interest Rate Cut

The Dow closes down about 75 points, after the Federal Reserve trimed the federal funds rate by a half-point to 1%, the lowest level since 2004.

Fed statement: "The pace of economic activity appears to have slowed markedly...."

Stocks were up more than 200 points late Wednesday afternoon.
