Mark Halperin’s Three Things

Mark Halperin’s three things to watch for in presidential politics for Tuesday, October 28.

1. Watch to see if Barack Obama makes any errors. He’s made very few throughout this entire campaign. Does that change with only a week to go until Election Day? He’ll be campaigning in Pennsylvania and Virginia today, giving the “closing argument” speech he introduced yesterday. Watch to see whether he makes any mistakes the Republicans can take advantage of.

2. Watch to see if there are any last-minute advertising buys by the McCain campaign, the RNC or any outside groups. The McCain camp released an ad yesterday that asks voters to compare the “proven” McCain with the “risky” Obama. Will there be more of these to come? Time is running short to put new ads on the air.

3. Watch for direct mail and robocalls. There’s been plenty of those already, but if anybody’s going to drop anything incendiary at the last minute, today’s the day to start looking for that.
