Bush Tries to Reassure Nation on Economy


The President makes brief remarks ahead of his presser with the President of Ghana on the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers and buyout of Merrill Lynch Monday morning.

Says he knows Americans are concerned, he and his administration are monitoring the situation.

“In the long run I’m confident that our capital markets are flexible and resilient and can deal with these adjustments.”

Dow Jones falls sharply at market’s open, drops more than 300 points.
