Mark Halperin’s Three Things

Mark Halperin’s three things to watch for in presidential politics for Tuesday, August 19:

1)   Keep an eye on the veepstakes for Barack Obama today. The Senator’s getting very close to announcing his decision, and speculation is running wild about who it will be, and when the announcement will come. Watch the mania today as the press chases that story.

2)   Watch to see if Senator Obama drives a negative message against John McCain in his address to the Veterans of Foreign Wars this morning. Obama did a little bit of that on Monday, unveiling a sharper tone against his opponent. Watch to see what kind of message he drives against the Arizonan today.

3)  Continue to watch the McCain campaign as it continues being very aggressive against Obama. His team is trying to disrupt the positive coverage that Obama will get leading up to and at his convention, which is now just days away. Watch for signs today of what the McCain camp plans to do to bracket Senator Obama’s convention in Denver.
