The Arizonan visits the Orange County Emergency Operations Center near Orlando Sunday for a briefing after Tropical Storm Fay scuttled his political fundraiser.
McCain tells reporters after his briefing: "The good news is, obviously, no state is better prepared or organized to deal with whatever comes this way than the state of Florida."
McCain also set to speak in Orlando Monday to the VFW Convention.
Fay is threatening to reach Florida as soon as Monday.
