Clinton Rallies New Mexico for Obama

The New York Senator spends the day with Gov. Richardson in the Land of Enchantment wooing Hispanics for her former rival. "We may have started out on two separate paths, but we are on one journey now," Clinton told about 800 people in heavily Hispanic northern New Mexico. Later Richardson held fundraisers for Clinton to pay off her debt. Permalink

Obama Discusses Energy With Pickens, Deflects Swift Boat Question

The Land of Lincolner sits down with the oilman-turned-environmental-crusader while in Reno Sunday, praises him as a "legendary entrepreneur." Sidesteps a question about Pickens' role in helping fund the Swift Boat campaign that undermined Kerry's 2004 presidential bid. "You know, he's got a longer track record than that. One of the things I think we have to unify the country around is having an intelligent energy policy. ... That's what we're going to be talking about." Senator-Astronauts Endorse Obama Space Plan

Florida Sen. Bill Nelson and former Ohio Senator John Glenn announce they're backing the Land of Lincolner's plan for space exploration, research in a media call Sunday. RNC responds: "Let’s be honest: Obama is only embracing NASA now because of his political problems in Florida." Read it here. Permalink

Boston Globe: Wares with Obama's words and image are replacing the spots in vendors' boutiques and tables that were once reserved for sports and hip-hop icons. Permalink

Kaine Stumps for Obama in D.C. Suburbs

The Virginia Governor outlined Obama's economic plan Sunday and told the crowd that a win in his state is crucial. On Saturday, he campaigned in Loudoun County, talking to voters about the economy, energy and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan at packed town hall meetings. Permalink

Senate Races Look Grim for GOP

Associated Press: Dems have solid chances of winning five seats and realistic shots at picking off another three to five Republican Senators in November. Republicans have only one good opportunity for replacing a Democrat, in Louisiana. Permalink

McCain Gets Briefed on Storm Fay

The Arizonan visits the Orange County Emergency Operations Center near Orlando Sunday for a briefing after Tropical Storm Fay scuttled his political fundraiser. McCain tells reporters after his briefing: "The good news is, obviously, no state is better prepared or organized to deal with whatever comes this way than the state of Florida." McCain also set to speak in Orlando Monday to the VFW Convention. Fay is threatening to reach Florida as soon as Monday. Plus: Obama camp officals cancel a veterans' event in Tampa scheduled for Monday. Permalink
