Obama Teams Up With Bayh for Injured Vets

The Illinois Senator, the potential Veep candidate and 8 colleagues sent a letter to Defense Secretary Gates Monday urging him to expand medical coverage for Iraq war vets with traumatic brain injuries. The letter comes two days before Obama will appear with Bayh at a campaign stop in Elkhart, Indiana. Permalink

Bush Heads to Asia Ahead of Olympics

The President kicks off his tour of the Far East Monday, leaving from the White House for Seoul, South Korea. Bush will make a stop at an Alaskan Air Force base to speak to military personnel and get his plane refueled while en route. He'll spend Wednesday in South Korea, Thursday in Thailand before spending four days in Beijing for the Games. Permalink

Politico: McCain Likely to Let Obama Pick Veep First

While McCain's extended circle is divided on whether he should reveal his pick in the next few days, advisers say the Arizonan is more likely to wait for Obama to announce his No. 2 first. "..Some of his advisers state a clear preference for not firing the valuable political bullet too soon." Poll: Low-Wage Workers Favor Obama

A Washington Post/Kaiser Foundation/Harvard University poll of workers earning less than $27,000 a year finds Obama leads McCain 2 to 1. The Illinois Senator is ahead by 10 points among white voters. Dates conducted: June 18 to July 7. Error margin: 4 points. Read more here. Permalink
