New Home Sales Drop, Foreclosures Up

Commerce Department reports Friday sales of new single-family homes fell 0.6% in June, the seventh drop in the last eight months.

The decline is slightly smaller than expected (in May housing sales fell 1.7%). But, overall sales are down by 33.2% from a year ago.

Report also finds foreclosure filings more than doubled in the second quarter from a year earlier.
