The Obamas' Odd Jobs

Chicago Sun-Times' Lynn Sweet details the slew of jobs the Obamas held while in school. Barack Obama sold island trinkets in a Hawaii gift shop, worked at a deli counter making sandwiches, held a contract to process health records of public officials, was a telemarketer for the New York Times. Michelle Obama worked a book bindery, spent all four undergrad years at Princeton at the Third World Center on campus. She also worked as an assistant at the American Medical Association. Permalink

McCain Aide: Gramm "Was Not Pushed; He Jumped"

A senior McCain official tells the Washington Times Gramm decided on his own to resign following reports of a Novak column that the two had "patched up their relationship." "Phil found out about the Novak column and he wanted out. There was a mild attempt to convince him to hold off, to discuss it further. Gramm said he didn't want to be a distraction for McCain."
