The Labor Department reports prices shot up 1.1% last month, much more than expected.

June's increase -- which occurred at the fastest pace in 26 years -- is being blamed mostly on high energy prices.

Energy prices rocketed upward by 6.6%, reflecting big increases in gasoline, home heating oil and natural gas.
