Politics up to the Minute

Fascinating (and slightly defensive) campaign statement seeks to balance laissez-faire instincts with the imperative of feel-your-pain sensitivity — and to defend against incoming criticism of Obama and Clinton.

McCain: “As I said this week, I am committed to considering any and all proposals…”

Essential reading: Check the artistic statement out here.

Plus: McCain camp’s Carly Fiorina said on media call that Clinton, Obama have “mischaracterized” McCain’s statements on economy, called it the “politics of the worst sort.”

On McCain himself downplaying his economic experience: It was more about his “humility” than truth.

Obama camp responds: “In his continuing struggle to understand the economy better, John McCain attempted a do-over on his economic speech today that still offers not one single idea or proposal to help struggling homeowners.” Full statement here.
